Malitte Outdoor on preview at Bologna Design Week 2019

2019-09-23 — Bologna
On the occasion of Bologna Design Week 2019, Paradisoterrestre in collaboration with Frassinago – Gardens and Landscapes presents a preview of the outdoor version of Malitte by Roberto Matta.
Designed by the polyhedric artist for Dino Gavina in the mid-Sixties and part of the permanent collection of MoMA in New York since 2016, Malitte is a seating system composed by five blocks – a two-seater sofa, three seats and a pouf – organic and colorful shapes that can be differently modulated to continually reconfigure the domestic space and if necessary instantaneously assembled in a single “wall” structure, the result of an original figurative research.
After the success of the presentation of Malitte at Milano Design Week 2019, Paradisoterrestre strongly wanted to launch a brand-new outdoor version of the iconic seating system, an experiment that fits well with its peculiar and playful conformation and adds further versatility to the already endless possibilities of composition. Malitte outdoor, developed thanks to Frassinago technical consultancy, is made with polyurethane for outdoor use and it is available in two variants of covering with Ginostra and Quercia fabrics by MARIAFLORA, water-oil repellent and resistant to UVA rays.
The ideal setting for Malitte seating system in the new outdoor variant is the magnificent garden of Frassinago – Gardens and Landscapes headquarters in via Cadriano 28/3, Bologna. The five high-transformation composite elements take place in a set-up masterfully curated by Frassinago studio, which since 2006 has been designing outdoor spaces set apart by exclusive gestures, moulded to the movements and desires of those within, combining the most varied range of skills – from botany to design, passing through agronomy and architecture – to create projects with an experimental and evolutionary spirit.
