Hospitality, Bologna, 2014
In order to redevelop a hotel in the Fiera area of Bologna, Frassinago protected some pre-existing plane and linden trees and operated on the borders to minimise the cement and asphalt context. The diagonal garden paths cross hedges of yew and Osmanthus and bursts of tall and low grasses. The windows of the indoor breakfast area therefore overlook greenery and not the car park. The shaded outdoor area is protected by tall trees which screen the buildings at the back and framed by deciduous plants, producing a golden colour in Autumn.
