Our Manifesto

Our studio emphasizes visual appeal and design consistency in natural spaces, ensuring immersive, year-round experiences. By integrating a broad spectrum of expertise—from botany and agronomy to architecture and design—Studio Frassinago brings an experimental and evolutionary approach to each project, infusing them with creativity and a commitment to innovation, both in Italy and internationally.

COHERENCE Gardens must be born and grown with care, working in harmony with their design location, in terms of both botany and architecture. In addition to its careful and unpretentious choice of “plants”, Frassinago steers clear of outdoor architectural clichés, offering site-specific designs to achieve truly unique results.

EMPATHY Frassinago connects places with people. It designs these on the inner “landscapes” of others. Its gardens are portraits, free and inspired, a portrayal of the people they will represent, of those who desire them, of those who have imagined them. Frassinago welcomes and interprets its clients, without limiting or pandering to them. Together with them, it builds and cultivates a unique vision.
BALANCE Frassinago designs with precision, within clear and well-defined architectural lines. Before leaving nature to relish them. Its gardens are humanised, without taking an anthropocentric approach; they grow without fearing the sharp, at times unexpected evolution of their natural components.
CARE Only a well-designed garden will successfully morph into a park over the years.
As time passes, Frassinago never leaves the side of its gardens. It watches them grow, it corrects them. Landscape creators cannot overlook the importance of a forward-thinking approach, but constant and continuous care is the only way to ensure a garden evolves with the right spirit, without betraying any expectations.
EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE Frassinago has had its heart set in landscaping for generations: its two founding partners – Cesare Marzocchi and Giovanni Chiusoli – carry a wealth of on-site experience acquired in a gardening company back in the seventies and eighties, skilfully managed by Franco Marzocchi and the theoretic sophistication of one of the most renowned University professors of Agriculture in Bologna, Alessandro Chiusoli. The founding fathers thus began a collaboration that was continued by the generation that followed, both in practice and in theory.
RESEARCH Frassinago never stops experimenting. From a gardening point of view, it welcomes all forms of innovation in terms of species, steering clear of fleeting “plant” trends and their counterparts. From an architectural point of view, it develops only customised designs. From the point of view of products, it studies the international design market in search of objects able to communicate with its gardens, living in harmony with the passing seasons and changing together with them.

Sustainability

With a focus on sustainability and innovation, Studio Frassinago carefully balances the ecological health of the landscapes with the aesthetic and functional demands of contemporary living. Each project is an intricate blend of natural beauty and human creativity, where every plant, pathway, and structure is thoughtfully placed to enhance the interaction between people and the environment.
