Casavalle

Garden, Residential, Castel Rigone, 2022
On the top of a promontory in the Umbrian hills, in the midst of a dense and shady Turkey oak forest, rises the estate of Casavalle. Frassinago designed a garden that connects to the surrounding landscape, with cypresses, holm oaks, mountain maples, and new, young Turkey oaks, making the appearance of the entrance gate less sudden.Beyond this threshold, a large lawn oriented toward a terrace: the view can range from one side over the wavy horizon, to the other over the sculptures that will slowly inhabit the garden. Going down a few steps, you enter a more intimate space: the infinity pool over the panorama, which, thanks to the mosaic bottom with earth shades, transforms into a lake surrounded by lavender, Russian sage, Pennisetum orientale ‘Karley Rose’, and Phlomis italica. The wind here blows all year round, which is why we chose fragrant and tenacious plants, which join the rugosa roses and Annabelle hydrangeas placed around the house. Thanks to the care of attentive gardeners, the garden grows over time and changes its appearance through the seasons.
