Castiglione

A rooftop garden that, only upon closer inspection, reveals itself as a terrace, conceived in 2010 and carefully nurtured over time. The parapet has now disappeared behind a linear yew hedge planted in a raised bed, itself covered in ivy. Beyond the hedge, the horizon is the surrounding urban greenery: like a vegetal trompe-l'œil, it feels like being in a countryside villa.
Designed as an elegant lounge shielded from city traffic, the garden is an intimate space with neutral-toned furnishings and fine plant textures: the needles of yews, the small leaves of boxwoods and ivy. Evergreen species, almost unchanged through the seasons, create a timeless, suspended garden.
Only the maples and jasmine mark the passage of time, with red autumn hues and white spring flowers, bare sculptural branches in winter, and lush summer climbing greenery. A garden of classical design reinterpreted in a contemporary key, which Frassinago continues to nurture, guiding the plants' natural movements.
